Jay Pen Mart

Jay Pen Mart is located at Shop No 3/5 in Chippi Chawl, which is in the Kalbadevi area. We are quite close to the Tribhuvandas Bhimji shop, so that makes it easy for people to find us in these narrow lanes. Kalbadevi is always packed with people and carts, and our shop is tucked right into that busy atmosphere. We sell pens and stationery, and the place is basically walls of boxes from floor to ceiling. It is a small shop, like most in the chawl, and it can get quite warm inside during the summer. We do not have fancy displays or bright lights like the big malls. It is just a traditional shop where we know exactly where every single item is kept, even if it looks like a mess to someone else. We have been here for years, dealing with students, office workers, and collectors. Sometimes the street outside is so crowded you can barely walk, but that is the charm of Kalbadevi. We do not use any high-tech sales tactics. We just show people the pens, talk about the ink, and wrap things up in paper. It is a simple life behind the counter. We start early when the market opens and stay until it is time for everyone to head home. It is a bit dusty and cramped, but it is our place and we have been part of Chippi Chawl for a long time.
