Jawahar M Shah

People usually find us here at Kandivali West on the 1st Cross Road where it meets the 2nd Main. It is a bit of a corner, number 27, and the street gets quite busy during the morning hours when everyone is heading out. Jawahar M Shah has been part of this neighborhood for a while now. We don't really have a big fancy sign, just the name on the door and some plants that I try to keep alive near the entrance. Most days it is just about getting the work done and chatting with the folks who stop by to ask directions or drop off papers. The office inside is a bit cluttered, to be honest. There are stacks of folders on the desks and a chair that squeaks every time you sit down. We keep the windows open mostly so the breeze comes in from the road, though that means we get some of the dust too. It feels like a normal workplace where things move at their own pace. Sometimes the internet is slow and we just sit around and wait for it to come back. We have a small kettle for tea which gets used a lot. It is nothing like those glass buildings you see in the city center. It’s just us here in this part of Mumbai, keeping things going every day. You get used to the sound of the scooters passing by and the occasional rain.
