Indian Navy

This is the place at New Navy Nagar in Colaba. It’s Flat No R24 13A, right near the water if you walk for a few minutes. Living and working here with the Indian Navy means things follow a certain rhythm every day. The buildings are a bit older, but they have that solid feel to them that you don't find in new builds. You see a lot of uniforms around here, which is pretty obvious given where we are. It’s a quiet area compared to the rest of Mumbai, which is a big relief after being out in the city. Sometimes the email address gets a bit confused because of how the records are kept, but we manage to get things to the right person. People are always moving in and out as their postings change. You get to know your neighbors quickly because we’re all in the same situation. The walk to the gate can be quite long if it’s hot outside. We have our little routines. Coffee in the morning, then whatever tasks are written on the board for the day. It isn't like what you see in the movies. There’s a lot of sitting at desks and filling out forms or checking the equipment lists. The trees in the colony give some good shade when the sun is really beating down. We’ve been at this specific flat for a bit now. It feels like a small town inside a huge city. You can hear the ships sometimes.
