Hilor Arts

We are located on the 3rd floor of the Ketki Building, which is part of the New Maneklal Mehta Estate in Ghatkopar West. Hilor Arts is not a big studio with glass walls; it’s a practical workspace where we actually get our hands dirty. Being on the 3rd floor means we have to carry everything up and down, which can be a bit of a workout when the lift is acting up. The estate is full of small businesses and workshops, so there is always the sound of machinery or people calling out to each other. Our space is filled with art supplies, half-finished projects, and scraps of material. We don't worry too much about making it look like a gallery. It’s more important that we have room to move and create. The light coming through the windows in the afternoon is actually quite nice, even if the view is just other buildings. We spend hours here, sometimes losing track of time when we are focused on a piece. We are just a small group of people who enjoy making things. Ghatkopar is a busy place, and getting here through the traffic can be a headache, but once we are up in the studio, it feels like our own little world. We usually have a radio playing in the background to keep things lively. It’s just a regular place where we do our work and go home.
