Hatemi Novelty

We’re over in Malad West, a small shop that’s been around for a while now. The name says novelty, but we really just sell whatever people in the neighborhood seem to need at the time. One week it might be more kitchen gadgets, and the next we’re selling a lot of imitation jewelry or plastic containers for the pantry. It’s just one of those places where you walk in looking for one thing and end up finding something else you forgot you needed for your house. The shop isn't very big, so we use every inch of wall space to hang things up on hooks. It can be a bit of a maze if you aren't used to where we keep things. I spend most of my day chatting with the neighbors who stop by just to say hello. We aren't part of any big chain, just a local family-run spot that stays open most days. We try to keep the prices low because we know everyone is looking for a good deal these days. Sometimes the lightbulbs flicker or the door squeaks when it’s humid, but we don't mind much. It’s a comfortable place to work. We get our stock from different wholesalers across the city, so the items change quite often. If you see something you like, it’s best to grab it because it might not be there next week. We don't have a computer system, so we do all our math on a little calculator at the desk. It works fine for us. We’re just here to provide a few useful things to the folks around Malad.
