Govinda Restaurant

If you are in Juhu, you’ve probably walked past the ISKCON temple at some point. Our restaurant, Govinda, is right there inside the Hare Krishna Land on Juhu Road. It’s a very busy area because of the temple, and we are also quite close to the Juhu Church and the PVR cinema. Mumbai life is always fast, but inside the temple grounds, things feel a little different and a bit more peaceful. We get a lot of people who come for the prayers and then stop by to eat. Also, there are families who come after watching a movie at PVR nearby. The monsoon season is always interesting here because Juhu Road gets flooded sometimes, but the people still come anyway. We have a big kitchen where we prepare everything fresh. It’s a lot of work and we start very early in the morning before most people are even awake. The smell of incense from the temple often drifts in through the doors. We don't use any fancy gadgets; it’s mostly traditional ways of doing things. The staff wears simple clothes and we try to keep the atmosphere calm. It’s a far cry from the noisy traffic just outside the gates. We’ve been serving people here for a long time now. It’s not just about the food, it’s about being part of the temple community. We just do our jobs and go home at the end of the shift.
