Girish Bakhru

Girish Bakhru is based at 403, Kakad Apartments on Pali Road in Bandra Wast. Pali Road is one of those places that’s always got something happening. Kakad Apartments is an older building, but it’s sturdy and has a lot of character. I’m up on the fourth floor in unit 403. It’s a small space, but it fits everything I need. Bandra Wast has this energy that you don't find anywhere else in Mumbai. There are cafes and shops everywhere, but once you get inside the apartment, it’s relatively quiet. I’ve set up my workspace near the window so I can see the street below. It helps to watch the world go by while I’m working on things. It’s not a corporate office. There are no cubicles or water coolers. It’s just a room with my computer and books. I handle all the calls and emails from here. The building has a slow elevator, so I usually take the stairs for the exercise. It’s a very human way of working. I don’t believe in having a flashy storefront. People who know me know where to find me. Kakad Apartments has a lot of history, and I like being part of that. It’s a simple life for me in the middle of a busy city. I stay here and get the job done without much fuss.
