Gifts & Things

Our little shop, Gifts & Things, is located in A/4 Karnatak Society on Shahpur Fire Brigade Road in Matunga. It’s a quiet enough spot, though the fire brigade road can get some traffic during the day. We’ve been here for a good bit now, surrounded by the houses in the society. The shop is exactly what the name says—we have gifts and we have things. It’s a bit of a mix of everything we can find. We don't have a specific theme or a fancy brand; we just stock what we think looks interesting or useful for a home. The space is small, so we’ve had to get creative with how we use the walls for storage and display. It’s mostly just us running the show, doing everything from cleaning the windows to tallying the accounts at night. We don't use any fancy computer systems, just a simple way of doing things that we’ve used for years. Matunga is a nice place to be, and our neighbors in Karnatak Society are good people who look out for each other. Sometimes we sit outside when it’s slow and just watch the street activity. It’s a very local feel here. We don’t try to be something we’re not. We’re just a shop with stuff to sell. If you’re walking down Fire Brigade Road, you’ll see our small sign. It’s a simple life, and we’re quite happy.
