Gift & Novelites

Being at 101 Heera Panna Shopping Centre right near the Haji Ali Darga means we see a lot of different people. Some are tourists and some are locals just walking through the mall. The shop is full of novelties, which basically means a lot of small things that look nice but don’t always have a big purpose. We have keychains, some decorative pieces, and lots of different sized boxes. The shelves are quite high so we have to use a small ladder sometimes. It’s not a very big space, so we try to use every inch. Sometimes the air conditioning in the center is too cold and other times it barely works, so we just dress for whatever. We spend a lot of time rearranging things because people pick stuff up and put it back in the wrong place. That is just how it goes in a gift shop. We don't really do much advertising or anything. People just see the sign and walk in. Sometimes they stay for ten minutes and don't buy anything, and that is fine too. We have some regulars who come by just to see what new trinkets have arrived. It is a bit of a squeeze when we get a new shipment in because the boxes take up the floor space for a few hours. It feels like a real part of the neighborhood even though it is inside a shopping center and everything is quite busy.
