Our shop is number 40 on Daftary Road, which is in Malad East. We are quite close to the Eastern Mall, so it is easy to tell people where to go if they get lost. The shop is full of all sorts of novelties and small articles that we have collected over the months. It is a bit of a mix of everything really. The space is a bit cramped because we keep bringing in new things before we have sold the old ones. Daftary Road is always humming with some kind of activity, and the noise of the rickshaws is just part of the background here. We don't spend much time on decorations or making things look like a high-end boutique. It is just a regular shop with shelves and counters. We spend a lot of time dusting things off and rearranging the piles of stock. Sometimes a customer comes in looking for one thing and ends up seeing something else they forgot they needed. We don't push anyone to buy, we just let them look around at their own pace. It is a very casual environment. We have been at this for a while and we know the regulars who pass by on their way to the mall. It is just a practical way to earn a living in Malad. No frills, just plenty of items to look through in a small space.
