Gift Khazana

If you go down Mirchi Galli, you’ll find us at Shop No 9 in the B Wing. It’s right across from Mangaldas Market, so there’s always a crowd outside. Gift Khazana is just a small spot filled with things we’ve gathered over the years. We spend a lot of time just moving boxes around to make space for more items. Plastic flowers, some glass bowls, and different kinds of statues that people buy for birthdays fill the shelves. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons because the sun hits the front of the shop directly. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to chat or get away from the street noise for a few minutes. Kalbadevi is always like that, busy and loud. We open the shutters around ten and stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening. There isn't much space to walk inside when we have a new delivery arriving. Trying to keep things organized is a priority, but honestly, stuff just ends up where it fits on the shelf. The fans are always running, but they don't do much when the humidity is high. People come in looking for something cheap to give at a wedding, and we show them what’s on the racks. It’s just a regular shop doing its thing. Most of the days are spent dusting the boxes and waiting for the next person to walk in from the alley. We drink tea twice a day and watch the world go by outside our door.
