Our office is up on the second floor of Pratik Arcade, right near Prasad Chambers. If you’ve ever walked down Tata Road No.2 in the Opera House area, you know it’s a bit of a maze. We’ve got unit 218, and it’s usually packed with stuff. There are files everywhere and boxes stacked in the corners because we never seem to have enough shelf space. Being in this part of Mumbai means you’re always hearing the traffic and the horns outside, even through the windows. We’ve been working from this building for quite some time now. Most of the guys here have been with us for years, so we don't really need to explain much to each other anymore. We just show up, get the coffee going, and start going through the daily inventory. It’s a lot of repetitive work, checking weights and looking at colors, but that’s just how it is. Sometimes a customer will drop by without calling first, and we have to scramble to clear off a chair for them. It’s a bit messy, and the air conditioning makes a weird rattling noise when it’s been on too long, but it’s our space. We don't bother with fancy decorations or anything like that. We just focus on the stones and the paperwork that comes with them. It is just a regular workplace where we spend way too many hours.
