Geeta Embroidery Works

Our little shop, Geeta Embroidery Works, sits inside Madhav Mansion at number 2 near Grant Road. It’s actually behind the Saraswati building, so it can be a little tricky for new people to spot us the first time. We spend our days surrounded by thread, needles, and a lot of different fabrics. There is usually the hum of machines or the sound of someone working by hand if the detail is really fine. The space is a bit cramped because we have so many spools of color everywhere, but we know where everything is. It’s a bit of a maze in Madhav Mansion, but it has character. We’ve been doing this for quite some time now. You’ll often find us squinting over a pattern under the bright lights we had to install. The Grant Road area is always loud and full of energy, which filters into our workroom through the windows. We don't have a big fancy showroom. It’s more of a workshop where the actual labor happens. People bring us their stuff, and we see what we can do with the designs they want. Sometimes we stay late when there’s a lot of work to finish. It’s honest work, and it keeps us on our toes. We like the neighborhood, even if it gets crowded. It’s just a normal day of stitching and fixing for us here. We don't mind the clutter; it just shows we are working hard on something. We usually have the radio on to keep us company while we work.
