Gautam Industries

Gautam Industries is over at C-6, Laghu Udyog Kendra on I.B. Patel Road. Being in Goregon (E), we are right in the heart of a lot of small manufacturing businesses. Our space is a bit cramped because we have a lot of equipment squeezed in. We make various industrial parts for local machines. It’s dusty work and can get quite loud when all the lathes are running at once. We usually have the radio playing in the background to keep things lively for the guys. The workers on the floor know their stuff; some have been machining parts for twenty years or more. We don't have a reception desk or a lobby for guests. If you come by, you’ll probably find me in the back with grease on my hands or checking a measurement. We deal with a lot of local workshops that need specific pieces made to order. Sometimes the blueprints they bring in are just hand-drawn sketches on scrap paper, so we have to figure it out as we go. It’s a lot of trial and error sometimes. We try to keep things moving so we don't fall behind on the schedule for our regulars. The electricity goes out once in a while, which is a real pain, but we just use that time to clean the machines and sweep the floors. It’s an honest way to make a living. We aren’t flashy people. We just focus on making parts that fit and work like they should. It’s what we’ve always done.
