Garibi Hatao Tailors

Garibi Hatao Tailors is situated at Shop No 1/2 inside Rajaram Estate. We are right there at Dadar East, specifically on the 2nd Cross in the Muniswamy Layout. It is a bit of a maze around here if you are not from this part of town, but once you find Rajaram Estate, we are easy to spot. The shop is filled with the smell of pressed cloth and the sound of iron steam. We have been working out of these two small shop units for a long time. There is always a pile of clothes waiting to be picked up near the front counter. We do not have any big signs or bright lights, just the work we do every day. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but usually, we are busy from morning until late at night. The Muniswamy Layout has changed a lot over the years, but our little corner remains pretty much the same. We have a few old wooden cupboards where we keep the finished orders wrapped in newspaper. It is a simple setup with a few benches for customers to wait on. We spend a lot of time talking to the people who live nearby while we pin up hems or mark sleeves with chalk. It is just a steady rhythm of work, day after day, making sure things are stitched properly. We use old sewing machines that have been with us for years and they still work just fine.
