Ganesh Mandir Trust

This trust is located in Sahyadri Nagar, over in Charkop. We are right in the Kandivali West area, very close to the Ganesh Mandir. People in the neighborhood usually know where we are because they come by the temple so often. The trust was started by a group of local residents who wanted to keep things organized around the temple grounds. It’s not a big operation, just a few of us who grew up in this part of Mumbai. We spend a lot of our time making sure the area stays clean and that the festivals go off without too many problems. During the big holidays, it gets very busy and we are all on our feet from morning until late at night. We have a small office where we keep our records and meet to talk about what needs doing next. Sometimes the roof leaks a little when the monsoon hits hard, so we have to fix that. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment or a big budget. Most of what we do comes from the help of people living right here in Charkop. It feels good to be part of the community like this. We see the same faces every day, kids growing up and old folks coming for their morning prayers. It’s just a part of life for us here in Sahyadri Nagar, making sure the temple remains a quiet spot for everyone.
