You’ll find Gala Stationeries General Stores at Shop No 10 in Balkrishna Niwas. We are located in Matunga East, specifically near Padamji Park. If you are a student or work nearby, you probably know we are right next to the Welingkar Institute. Because of that, our shop is usually full of students looking for notebooks, pens, or getting some photocopies done between their classes. It’s a small shop, but we try to cram in as much as we can—everything from basic pencils to art supplies and some general household items. The shelves are packed pretty high, and sometimes it takes us a minute to find exactly what someone is asking for. It gets very busy in the mornings when school starts and again in the late afternoon. We’ve been in this spot for quite a while, and we’ve seen a lot of students graduate and move on. The shop isn't modern or fancy; it’s just a regular local store with a counter and a lot of stuff piled up. We spend most of the day behind the desk, ringing up small sales and chatting with the regulars who live in the building or the nearby apartments. It’s a lot of standing and moving boxes around to keep things stocked up. We don’t have a big staff, just the family members and a helper. It’s a simple life running a shop in Matunga, and we like being part of the neighborhood here.
