We operate out of Unit No 1 in the Amar Insudutrial Est Chembur East. It might seem a bit odd to have a real estate office in an industrial estate, but it works for us. We spend more time out on the streets showing people properties than we do sitting at our desks anyway. The office is just a place to keep our files and meet for a quick talk before heading out. Chembur is a big area with all kinds of buildings, old and new, and we try to keep track of what’s available. We aren't those high-pressure salesmen you see in movies. We just tell people what the rent is, what the problems with the flat might be, and let them decide. The industrial estate can be a bit noisy with all the small workshops around, but we’ve gotten used to the sound of hammers and machines. Our desks are usually covered in maps and printouts of listings. It’s a lot of running around, answering phone calls at odd hours, and dealing with a lot of paperwork. We don't have a big corporate brand behind us. It’s just a small team of us trying to help people find a place to live or work. We know the local lanes and the landlords pretty well by now. It’s honest work, even if it gets a bit exhausting during the busy season when everyone seems to be moving at once. Most days we are just grabbing a quick vada pav between meetings.
