Fort Restaurant

You can find us at Elphinston House, which is at 17 Murzban Road. We are right opposite Sterling Cinema, which is a big landmark in this part of CST. The 400001 area is always crowded, as you probably know if you've ever walked around Mumbai. Fort Restaurant has been here seeing the crowds go into the movies for years. The noise from the street is something we just live with. Between the taxis honking and the people shouting, it’s never really silent. Our place is old, and we try to keep the character of Elphinston House alive, even if the walls are a bit thick and the ceilings are high. We serve food all day and it gets really packed when a movie lets out. The staff has to move fast to keep up with everyone. We aren't a fancy bistro or anything, just a regular place where you can get a meal. The kitchen is small and we are always bumping into each other, but we get the plates out. Sometimes we have to shout to be heard over the fans and the street noise. It’s a busy life here at CST. We don't have time for polished speeches. We just open the doors in the morning, sweep the front, and start the day's work. It’s been our routine for a long time. There is always someone coming in for a quick bite before they catch their train.
