Ekveera Vidyalaya

Located on Custom Road in Mankhurd, our school is right in the middle of everything. Mumbai is a crowded place and space is always tight. Ekveera Vidyalaya has been here for quite some time now. We deal with the noise from the street every day, but once you’re inside the classrooms, it’s a bit calmer. It’s a local school for local kids. Most of our students walk here from the nearby colonies. We aren't one of those expensive international schools. We are just a regular place providing education to the kids in this part of Mankhurd. The building gets a lot of wear and tear, so we are always fixing something or painting a wall. Our teachers work hard. They have a lot of kids in each class, but they manage. It’s a lively place, especially during lunch breaks when everyone is out in the corridors. We don't have a huge playground, but we make do with what we've got. The focus is on the books and getting through the exams. Parents here want their kids to have a better chance, and we try to help with that. It’s honest work. Custom Road is always busy, so we keep a close eye on the kids when school lets out. It’s just a normal school day here, day in and day out. We have a small staff room where we drink tea and plan the next day’s lessons together. Everything is quite simple. We use a lot of chalk and have many blackboards that need wiping.
