Our place is in Roshan Apartment, specifically Room 302, right across from the Holy Spirit Hospital on Mahakali Caves Road. Being in Andheri East means we are right in the thick of the Mumbai rush. The building is an older one, the kind where the security guard knows everyone who comes and goes by their first name. If you are coming to find us, you just look for the hospital entrance and we are right there on the opposite side. The traffic on Mahakali Caves Road can get pretty intense, especially when the monsoon rains hit, but we are used to it by now. Inside 302, things are a bit more relaxed than the street outside. We have got files stacked on some metal shelves and a few plants on the windowsills that we try our best to keep alive. It is an apartment that we turned into an office, so it has that cozy, slightly cramped feel that a lot of businesses in this part of the city have. We do not have a big cafeteria or anything, just a small corner with a kettle and a jar of biscuits for when we need a break. Sometimes the sounds of the street drift in through the windows, but it is just part of the background. It is an honest, functional spot for us to work. We spend our days here typing away and keeping things moving.
