Our family business is located at 59, Abdul Rehman Street. This street in Mumbai is famous for being crowded and full of shops selling all sorts of things. We’ve been in this same spot for generations. The building is quite old, and you can tell by the high ceilings and the way the wooden floors creak when you walk. We have "Sons" in our name because it’s been passed down from fathers to their children for a long time. Our shop isn’t very big, and we have shelves reaching all the way to the top, filled with boxes and items we’ve collected over the years. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are inside at once. We don't use fancy computers for everything; we still have some of those big heavy ledgers for bookkeeping. It’s just the way we’ve always done it. Outside, the street is always loud with carts and shoppers. We know almost all the other shopkeepers on this block. We spend most of our time answering questions and helping people find specific parts or items they need. It’s a lot of standing on our feet all day. By the time we close the shutters in the evening, we are pretty tired. But it’s good work, and we are proud to be part of the history of this street. There is something nice about sticking to the old ways.
