Devi Housing Corporation

We are over in Mulund East, specifically at B 63 Ashwin Apartments on M P Road. Devi Housing Corporation has been operating out of this building for quite some time now. If you come by, you’ll see we have a lot of maps and blueprints pinned to the walls. They’re a bit yellowed at the edges, but they tell the story of where we’ve been. Mumbai is a crowded place, and trying to manage housing here is never a quiet job. There is always a phone ringing about a leak or someone asking about a new project. We spend a lot of time dealing with the municipal office and trying to get all the stamps and signatures needed for the paperwork. It can be frustrating, but that is just the way it works in this city. Our office is small and usually smells like rain during the monsoon because the windows don't always close perfectly. We aren't some massive developer with a glass skyscraper. We are just local people trying to help other people find a place to stay or manage the ones they already have. Sometimes we have to walk to different sites, which is a workout in itself given the humidity. We don't put on any airs. If you need to talk about a flat or a lease, you just sit down at the desk and we go through it page by page until it makes sense. It’s a lot of talking and a lot of keys, but we make it work.
