My office is at A/9 in Laxmi Sadan, which is on Ram Lane in Kandivali West. It is a quiet residential area mostly but there are a few of us running businesses out of these buildings. I have been here for a while now. The room is filled with cupboards and shelf after shelf of old files. People come in to see me about their paperwork and we sit across the desk from each other. Usually, I have a cup of tea going while I look through documents. It is just me and maybe an assistant helping out with the typing and the filing. Ram Lane is a nice place to work because it isn't as loud as the main road. I see the same faces every morning when I walk in. We deal with a lot of numbers and government forms. It can be tedious but it is what people need help with. I don't have a big sign outside or anything like that. People find me through word of mouth or they live nearby in Kandivali. The light comes in through the window in the afternoon and hits all the dust on the books. It is a plain space but it works for what I do. I try to keep things straightforward for everyone who walks in. We just go through the pages one by one until the task is done.
