Our spot here in Jodhpur 342 003 is pretty straightforward. The building isn't anything special to look at from the outside, but it works for what we need every day. Most mornings start with the sound of the shutters going up and the smell of the dust settling on the street as the sun comes up. We spend a lot of our time at our desks, which are starting to show a bit of age around the edges where the wood has rubbed thin. There’s a small fan that wobbles in the corner, and it is the only thing you hear when the office gets quiet in the hot afternoon. People from the neighborhood come in and out, and we usually know their faces without having to look at any paperwork. It is hot for most of the year in this part of the country, so the air conditioning is always running, even if it makes a bit of a racket. We have a few files stacked up on the side tables because the metal cabinets are already full. The light in the hallway flickers sometimes, but nobody has really gotten around to fixing it yet. Lunch usually happens at our desks or at the small tea stall just down the road. We’ve been at this address for a while now, and it feels like a second home to those of us who work here. It is a busy place but we don't make a big deal out of it.
