Deepak Gift & Light

Deepak Gift & Light is on the ground floor at number 5 in Dadar West. Dadar is always moving, isn't it? There is always a crowd outside, especially near the market areas. Our shop is a mix of things. We have lights because people always need them for their homes or for festivals, and then we have the gift items. It’s a bit of a strange mix if you think about it, but it works for us. The shop isn't very large, so we have wires and boxes tucked into every corner. I try to keep the lights plugged in so people can see how they look, which makes the shop quite warm in the summer months. My father started this place, and I’ve been working here since I was a teenager. I remember when the street outside looked completely different. Now there are more cars and the pace is much faster. We don't use any fancy sales tactics. If someone likes a lamp, they buy it. If they need a gift for a wedding, we show them what we have on the shelves. It’s straightforward. We spend a lot of our time just chatting with the other shop owners on the ground floor. We all look out for each other. It’s a good community to be a part of, even if it gets a bit noisy and chaotic sometimes with the Dadar traffic.
