We are located at 4 2 Kadam Chawl in Mumbai. It’s right in the middle of everything, like most places in this part of Maharashtra. Living and working in a chawl means you’re always around people and there’s always something happening. We’ve been running Deemark from here for a good while. It's a small space, but we make it work for what we need. It can get pretty hot in the afternoons, so the fan is always going. We handle all sorts of business tasks. Our neighbors know us well. It’s the kind of place where you can’t really hide what you’re doing, and we like that honesty. We aren't some big firm in a glass tower. We are right here on the ground, dealing with things as they come. There are days when the rain makes it hard to get anything done, and other days when we are working late into the night. It’s just the reality of running a business in Mumbai. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If you knock on the door, one of us will just answer. We focus on the daily chores and the orders that come in. It’s a busy life but it feels right. We’ve seen the streets around Kadam Chawl change a lot over the years, but our spot stays pretty much the same.
