Dadar Novelty

Dadar is always moving and the noise never really stops. We are over here near the Waman Hari Pate Jewellers at 3 Popatlal Niwas. Being in Dadar West means it’s always crowded outside our door. People are always rushing to the station or coming from the vegetable market nearby. Our shop, Dadar Novelty, is tucked in near the Papanna Building on Dinnur Main Road. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside when more than a few people come in at once. We’ve got all sorts of small things packed onto the shelves from floor to ceiling. Sometimes I forget where I put the smaller items because there is just so much stuff to keep track of. We spend a lot of time dusting the glass cases because of all the dirt from the buses going past. It’s not a quiet place to work and you hear the horns and shouting all day long. We start early, usually around ten, and stay open as long as there are people walking around. The floor is a bit worn out from all the feet walking through over the years. We don't have a big fancy sign, just the items we sell sitting out front for people to see. It’s a simple setup. If the weather is bad, the rain comes right up to the step, so we have to keep the floor dry.
