Computer Operator

I am based out of Sai Baba Chawal in the Koyna Vashat area. This is over in Panch Bawadi, which is part of Goregaon East in Mumbai. If you know this part of the city, you know it is always moving and there is always some noise from the street. My little corner as a computer operator is tucked away where I can focus on the screen. I handle a lot of different things like typing letters or helping people with their online forms because many neighbors don’t have a computer at home. It is a basic setup with a desk and a couple of chairs for when people have to wait. The walls are a bit plain and the fan makes a clicking sound, but it gets the job done. Working in a chawl means everyone knows everyone, so I get a lot of local talk while I am working. I don't have a fancy website or a marketing person. I just sit here and do the work that comes through the door. Some days are very slow and I just clean the keyboard, but other days there is a line of people out the door. Mumbai life is like that, especially here in 400063. I just keep things simple and try to be honest with the time it takes to finish a job. It is just me and my machine in this small room at the end of the day.
