Cms Computers is over in Building No. 155 at the Millennium Business Park in Mahape. It’s a huge complex, so people sometimes get turned around trying to find our specific building among all the others. Once you get to 155, it’s a standard tech office environment, but without the startup flashiness you see in movies. We’ve got rows of desks, plenty of wiring under the floor, and the faint blue glow of monitors everywhere. It’s a quiet place for the most part, punctuated by the sound of typing or someone explaining a technical fix over the phone. The air conditioning is always set a bit too cold, so most of us keep a sweater or a jacket at our desks even in the summer. We’ve been here in Mahape for a good stretch, and we’ve seen the business park grow and change around us. The cafeteria is where we see everyone else, but we often just bring our own food and eat while watching something on our phones. It’s a straightforward way to spend the day. We deal with computer systems and all the headaches that come with them, which keeps us pretty focused. There’s no big philosophy behind what we do; we just show up at the business park, log in, and try to make sure everything is running the way it’s supposed to. When the shift ends, there’s the usual rush for the buses and the station, and then we do it all again the next day. The commute can be long but we make it work.
