It’s a busy little corner of Mumbai, 400057. Usually, the smell of the food from next door makes us pretty hungry during the afternoon shifts. We’ve been at this spot for a long time. It’s not a big corporate office or anything like that, just a regular place where we keep our logs and wait for students to show up for their lessons. Driving in Mumbai is a bit of a headache, especially around here, but someone has to teach the basics. We spend most of our day sitting in the passenger seat, hoping the learner doesn't stall the engine in the middle of traffic. It happens a lot, though. The street can get crowded with people headed to the market or grabbing a quick bite. We try to be patient. It’s just how it goes when you’re teaching people to drive. We have a few instructors who know these roads like the back of their hands. No big speeches or anything, we just get in the car and start the lesson. Sometimes we chat about the weather or how the traffic is getting worse every year. It’s a living, and we enjoy seeing someone finally get their license after a few weeks of practice. It makes the day feel worth it.
