Chishty Engs.Pvt.Ltd. is located at 117 N.M. Road in the Fort area. If you know Mumbai, you know how crowded and old Fort is. Our building is one of those traditional ones, and the office inside is pretty simple. We do engineering work, mostly handling parts and technical supplies that other companies need. The street outside is always full of people and vendors, so it’s never quiet. We’ve been operating out of this address for years, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot, though our office stays mostly the same. We have some heavy desks and lots of old ledgers and files because we still like to keep physical records of things. It’s a private limited company, but it feels more like a family business because the staff has been together for so long. We don’t have any slick brochures; we just talk to our customers and tell them what we can provide. It’s about being reliable and showing up every day to handle the orders. Sometimes the monsoon makes the old building a bit damp, but we just deal with it. We spend a lot of time coordinating with workshops and making sure the engineering specs are correct. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know how to do. Most days are just a steady stream of phone calls and ledger entries until it’s time to lock up and head home.
