Our shop is on the second floor of the Khaitan Shopping Centre in Malad West. It is right opposite the telephone exchange on S.V. Road. If you know Malad, you know how busy S.V. Road gets at all hours. The shopping center is always full of people looking for deals. We deal in imitation jewelry. We have boxes and boxes of earrings, bangles, and necklaces. It is a lot to keep track of every day. The space is small, so we use the walls to hang as much as we can. It looks a bit crowded but that is how people like to shop in this area. We spend our time untangling chains and putting jewelry sets together. The Marwadi Chawl area has a lot of history and energy. It is loud, but we like the buzz of the market. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just rely on the people walking by or regular customers who come back every wedding season. Sometimes the lights flicker when the AC in the next shop kicks in. It is just one of those things you deal with in an old building. We try to keep prices fair because we know people are looking for a bargain. It is a family-run kind of thing, so there is usually someone around who knows the history of the pieces. We don't use fancy boxes, just simple plastic ones to keep the costs down for everyone.
