Ceramic Corner

Ceramic Corner is right on M G Road in Bandra West. If you’ve walked down this street, you’ve probably passed us without thinking much about it. It’s a small place packed with all sorts of things. We have stacks of tiles and ceramic pieces all over the floor. It’s a bit dusty because of all the stock we move around, but that’s just part of the business. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. Bandra is always moving, and we get a lot of people just peeking in while they’re out shopping. The shop doesn't have fancy air conditioning, so we usually keep the door open to get a bit of a breeze from the street. Sometimes the traffic noise is a lot, but we’re used to it by now. We spend a lot of time checking the inventory and making sure nothing is cracked. It’s hands-on work. Sometimes we have to move the heavy ceramic pots just to reach the back of the shelf. My back usually aches by the end of the week, but that’s just how it is. We don't have fancy lifting equipment. We aren't trying to be a high-end gallery; we’re just a shop on the road selling what we have. Most days are spent moving boxes or talking to the delivery drivers who struggle to find parking on M G Road. It’s a bit messy, and there’s always something that needs cleaning, but it’s our little corner of Mumbai.
