This little office is tucked away in Room No 7 of Tirupati Chawl over in Durga Nagar. If you know the Talav Pakhadi area near Sahar Village Road No 3, you know it stays pretty crowded and loud most of the day. It’s a busy part of Andheri East and we are right in the middle of it. The room is small and we have packages stacked up almost to the ceiling sometimes. People are constantly walking by the door and we can hear the bikes and trucks outside all the time. It gets hot in the summer because the air doesn’t move much in the chawl, but we keep the fan going. We spend our mornings sorting through what came in overnight and getting everything ready for the delivery guys to take out. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting boxes and checking labels. Sometimes the addresses are hard to read and we have to call people to figure out where they actually live. Rain makes everything harder during the monsoon months because we have to be so careful about things getting wet. We’ve got a routine down now after being in this spot for a while. It’s not a glamorous job but it feels good when the pile of boxes is finally gone by the end of the day. We usually grab some tea from the stall nearby when we get a break between the morning rush and the afternoon arrivals.
