Bindas News is run out of Chawl No 1 5 on Gurudwara Road in Bandra East. We are in the Sant Dnyaneshwar area. It’s a lively neighborhood, that’s for sure. Working in a chawl means you’re always around people and noise. It fits for a news place because there is always something happening outside the door. We aren't a big TV station with fancy studios. It’s just a small room where we gather information and write things down. Bandra East is a busy part of Mumbai. Gurudwara Road has its own pace. We spend our days talking to locals and seeing what’s going on. The space in Chawl No 1 5 is tight, but it works for us. We have our equipment and some chairs. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons. Sometimes we just sit outside to get some air. People know us as the Bindas News folks. We don't have a corporate board or anything like that. Just us trying to keep track of what’s happening in the streets around here. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning to night. The chawl life is very different from an office building. You hear everything from the neighbors’ cooking to their radios. Bindas News is right in the middle of it all at Chawl No 1 5. Gurudwara Road is always packed with people going to work or the market. We don't have a big newsroom. Just us with a couple of laptops.
