Binal Garments India is based out of our place in Sion, specifically over at Kalpatru Residency. If you ever go to watch a movie at Cine Planet Theatre, we are right across from there. It’s a convenient spot in Mumbai, though the parking can be a real headache sometimes. We deal with garments and textiles here. Most of our days are spent checking fabric samples or talking to suppliers on the phone. It’s a bit of a crowded space because we have boxes stacked up in the corners, but we manage. My uncle started this whole thing and now we just keep it going. We aren't trying to be some massive fashion house. We just want to get the orders right and send them out on time. The humidity in Mumbai gets to the staff during the summer months, but we have a couple of fans that keep the air moving. It’s a lot of manual work, counting buttons or checking seams. Sometimes a customer comes by to see a sample in person. We sit down, have some water, and talk about what they need. There is no script or fancy sales pitch. We just show what we have and see if it works for them. Most of the people working here have been with us for a long time, so we’re like a small family.
