Bengali Decorators

We’re located at Shop No 18 in the Heera Mani Ratan Shopping Center, right in Bangur Nagar, Goregaon West. Being a decorator in Mumbai means we are always on the move, carrying bamboo poles, rolls of fabric, and crates of lights from one place to another. Our shop is where we keep all the equipment, though it often looks a bit messy with half-finished projects and piles of rope. We’ve been helping people with their functions for a long time now. Whether it’s a small puja at someone’s home or a bigger setup for a local festival, we just get the work done. My sons work with me, and we have a couple of guys who are great at climbing up to hang the decorations. It’s physical work, and our hands are usually stained with paint or dust by the end of the day. The shopping center is a busy place, so there’s always someone stopping by to ask for a quote or to see if we have certain colors of fabric in stock. We don't use any fancy design software; we usually just sketch things out on a piece of paper and show the customer. It’s more about understanding what they want. The monsoon is our toughest time because the wind tries to blow everything down, but we’ve learned how to tie things tight over the years. We’re just local people doing a job we know well.
