Down in D-24 of the Bonanza Industrial Estate, we are usually busy with the sound of metal hitting metal. Ashok Nagar in Kandivali East is a busy part of the city, and this estate has all sorts of small factories running at once. We make beaters here, so there is always grease on someone's hands and the smell of cooling oil in the air. The space isn't huge, so we have to be careful where we stack the finished parts so nobody trips. Most of the work is repetitive, but it needs to be done right or the machines won't work later on. We have a few old lathes that have seen better days, but they still run fine if you know how to handle them. The morning starts with checking the schedule and seeing what needs to be shipped out. We spend a lot of time packing things into wooden crates or heavy plastic wrap. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the back door, so we have to move the stock away from that wall. It's a regular industrial job, nothing too fancy about it. We see the same faces every day in the estate, and we usually grab a quick snack from the cart outside the main gate. It's just a bunch of us working to keep the production moving along every week. We stay focused on the tasks and try to keep the machinery in good order.
