Ashman Merchandise

Our office is tucked away in room 107 of the Niranjan building. We are located at 99 Marine Drive, which sounds very fancy to people who don't live in Mumbai, but for us, it’s just where we go to work every morning. The building is older and has that specific smell of sea air and old stone that you find near the coast. We deal with merchandise and trading from this small space. There are desks piled with papers and samples of things we move from one place to another. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or typing away on computers. Even though we are on Marine Drive, we don't spend all day looking at the ocean; we are usually too busy making sure orders are being shipped on time. It is a small team here, just a handful of us who have been doing this for years. We know the elevator in this building has its own personality and sometimes you’re better off taking the stairs if you're in a hurry. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees. We are a local business that handles goods and makes sure the paperwork is right. It gets hot in the afternoons, but we have the fans going. We like being in the 400002 area because it's central for our deliveries and close to the docks. If you're walking along the promenade, you might pass right by our building without even realizing we are in here working away.
