Down in Chembur, you can find us at the Navasahyadri Society. We are in Shop No 7, right on Dr R C Marg Netaji. It is a small shop, and honestly, it is mostly taken up by the big embroidery machines and the rolls of fabric. There isn't much room to walk around once we get a big order in. The sound of the needles is constant from morning until we close up at night. It is a rhythmic kind of noise that you stop hearing after a while. We have threads in every color you can imagine hanging from hooks on the walls. Sometimes the dust from the fabric makes us sneeze, but that is part of the job. People bring in all sorts of clothes, from wedding outfits to simple shirts, wanting some design work done. We do it all by hand or machine depending on what is needed. My hands are usually a bit stained from the dyes or tired from the fine work. We do not have a website or anything like that. People just know we are here because they see the sign or hear about us from a neighbor. It gets really hot in the shop during the summer months, but the small table fan helps a bit. We just keep our heads down and focus on the patterns. It is honest work and it keeps us busy every single day of the week.
