Down in Mumbai, on Nishanpada Road in Dongri, you can find us in the Lokhandwala Building, number 5. This part of the city is always moving, and Dongri has its own rhythm that you have to get used to. We do software work here at Ascent Softwares. The office is small—typical for Mumbai—and we have to be smart about how we use the space. There are computers everywhere and cables running along the floor, but we know where everything is. It’s a bit noisy outside with the traffic and the vendors, but once you put on your headphones and start coding, you don't notice it as much. We aren't a big tech firm with a cafeteria; we usually just order something from the place around the corner or bring dabbas from home. The building is old but it has character. We spend our days fixing bugs, writing new bits of code, and trying to keep our servers running. Sometimes the humidity makes everything feel a bit sticky, so we keep the AC running as much as we can. It’s a real, hardworking environment. We don’t have fancy meetings with slides; we just talk across the desks when something needs to be fixed. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but that’s how software gets made. We’ve been here for a while and the location on Nishanpada Road works well for us. It’s a crowded street but it feels like home now.
