Walking into Anurag Makeup Studio at Maan Darwaja in Andheri, you'll probably see a lot of open cases and brushes sitting out. We spend a lot of our mornings here getting things ready for the day. It’s mostly about the lighting and making sure the mirrors are clean. We’ve been in this A 51 spot for a bit. It’s not a huge place, but it works for what we do. There’s always the smell of hairspray and different powders in the air. We see a lot of people coming in for weddings or just because they have a big event. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when three people are trying to get ready at the same time. We don't have a big corporate team, just a few of us who know how to use a palette. It’s hard work on your feet all day. You have to have a steady hand even when you've had too much coffee. We talk to the clients about their day while we work. The Maan Darwaja area stays pretty lively. We get a lot of natural light through the windows in the afternoon which helps. It’s a simple setup. We keep the lipsticks organized by color, though they don't stay that way for long. We just try to make sure everyone leaves looking like themselves but a bit more polished. It’s a decent living and it keeps us busy from morning to night.
