Aminas

Being located in the Mumbai Central market yard means there is never a quiet moment. We are up on the first floor in Block No 3 A, and you can hear everything happening down in the yard all day long. The shouting of the loaders, the trucks backing in, it’s just part of the background noise for us at Aminas. Our space is a bit tight because we have so much stuff crammed in here. We spend a lot of time just moving boxes around to find what we need. It’s not a fancy showroom. It’s a workplace. The stairs up to the office are a bit steep and narrow, so you have to be careful if you’re carrying anything heavy. We’ve been in this Dilsh building area for a while now. Most mornings start with a quick cleanup because the dust from the market gets everywhere. We drink a lot of chai to keep going through the afternoon slump. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just keep working by the window light. It’s a busy life in Mumbai, and we are right in the middle of the chaos. We know our neighbors in the other blocks and we all sort of look out for each other. It’s a hard way to make a living sometimes but it’s what we do. We don't have any corporate polish or big signs, just the name on the door and a lot of work to finish before the sun sets over the yard.
