You can find Al Jamil & Bros. inside the Pakeezah Market on M.S. Ali Road. Being near Grant Road means there is a lot of energy and people around at all hours of the day. Our shop is number 40. It is a traditional kind of place where we know our neighbors and the people who walk past every day. The market can be a bit overwhelming if you are not used to the shouting and the smells. We keep our goods stacked and ready, and there is usually someone here from early morning. It is a family-run sort of thing, so we do things our own way. We do not have any big ads or flashy signs. People mostly find us because they know where we are or someone told them. The space is a bit small, but we use every inch of it for storage and for sitting down to do the accounts. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we keep the doors open for whatever breeze comes through the alleyway. We handle the daily tasks and make sure the customers get what they came for. It is honest work and we have been doing it this way for years. Sometimes the delivery guys are late, so we just sit and wait. That is how life goes in the market. We take it one day at a time here.
