Our office for Ajmal Fragrances & Fashions Pvt. Ltd. is located at 4/13, Kamal Mansion, which sits right on Arthur Bunder Road in Colaba. Being in an old building like Kamal Mansion means dealing with high ceilings and some quirky plumbing, but it has a lot of soul that you don’t find in modern offices. Colaba is always buzzing with tourists and locals, and the salty air from the nearby water is part of our daily environment. We spend our time between these walls managing the fashion and fragrance side of things, though it’s less glamorous than it sounds. There is a lot of counting stock, checking invoices, and making sure the displays look halfway decent. The stairs can be a bit of a workout, especially when we’re carrying boxes up to the unit. We aren't into using big corporate buzzwords to describe what we do. We just come in, do our shift, and try to make sure everything is in its right place. The neighborhood is full of history, and we feel like a small part of the fabric of this street. It’s a bit cramped inside sometimes because we have so much stuff packed into the rooms, but we know where everything is. It’s just a regular workplace with people trying to do their best with the space they have. Most afternoons involve a lot of coffee and sorting through various fabric swatches and samples.
