We are based at 1 14 Kuwararji Shah Chawl on Dr S S Rao Road. This is in the Tawaripada area of Lalbaug in Mumbai. If you know Lalbaug, you know it is famous for the big festivals, but on a regular day, it is just a hardworking neighborhood. Our office is a small space in the chawl. It is an old building with a lot of history in the walls. We do financial work here, sitting at our desks and going through stacks of papers. The doorway is usually open to let some air in because it can get quite stuffy. We hear the sounds of the neighbors cooking and the TV sets from the other rooms. It is a very close-knit community. We don't have any corporate branding or expensive office gear. We just have our ledgers, some pens, and a couple of old fans. Sometimes the rain in Mumbai makes it hard to get to work, but we usually make it. We take our tea from the local vendor who comes around twice a day. It is a humble place to work, but we have been here for a long time and we like it. We know the people on the street and they know us. We just keep doing our thing, day in and day out, right here in the heart of Lalbaug. That is our story.
