Accenture Management Consulting is tucked away at K 1 Guruprasad CHS on Hanuman Road in Vile Parle. This part of Mumbai has a very specific feel to it, lots of old buildings and narrow streets that get very crowded. Our office is in a cooperative housing society, so it’s very much a part of the local neighborhood. You won't find any big glass walls here. It’s just a regular room with some desks and a couple of old cupboards for the files. We have been here for a while, and the people in the building know us well. The commute is okay because the station isn't too far, but Hanuman Road is always a mess with rickshaws and people walking. Inside, it’s mostly quiet except for the hum of the computers. We don't really do the whole corporate culture thing. We just come in, do what needs to be done, and head out. Sometimes we stay and chat for a bit after work if the weather is nice. We get our tea from the guy downstairs who has been there as long as we have. It’s a very grounded way of working. There is no pretense here. We just handle the management consulting side of things for the people who need it. It’s small, it’s a bit cramped sometimes when everyone is in, but it works for us. That is just how life is in Vile Parle.
