You can find Aadil Gems & Jewellery Private Limited on the second floor of the Roopraj Building at 497, S.V.P. Road. We are right in the Opera House area, which everyone knows is the place for this kind of work in Mumbai. Our office, room 207, is where we handle most of our daily business. It’s not a retail shop where you walk in and see rows of necklaces. It’s more of a place where we deal with stones and wholesale pieces. The building is old, like most around here, and the stairs are a bit steep. We spend our time looking at stones under the loupe and talking to other traders. It’s a lot of sitting at desks and negotiating. The traffic on S.V.P. Road is always loud, but we’ve gotten used to the noise over the years. We started as a small family thing and eventually became a private limited company, though it still feels like a small office. We don't have a big staff, just a few people who know their way around gems. Most of our work comes from long-standing relationships in the industry. We don't put out brochures or anything like that. People know where we are if they need to see us. The office is usually cluttered with parcels and ledgers. We just try to keep things moving and make sure the quality is what it should be. It’s a lot of staring at tiny details, but that's the job.
