A Nationalised Bank

You can find us over in Bhandup Village East, right near the RBI staff quarters. We are situated in the Shree Datta Prasad CHS Ltd building. It is a fairly quiet area compared to the main roads near the station, which makes it a bit easier for people to come in and do their banking without too much fuss. We have the usual setup you’d expect from a nationalised bank. There are counters for cash, a desk for the manager, and a corner where the peon keeps the water. Many of our customers are the people who live in the quarters nearby or in the surrounding apartment blocks. We spend a lot of time filling out forms and checking ID proofs. It’s steady work. The office has that specific smell of old paper and ink. Sometimes the air conditioning doesn't reach the back corners, so it can get a bit stuffy in the afternoons. We have a machine for printing passbooks, but it needs a bit of a nudge sometimes to work properly. People come here for their savings accounts or to park some money in a fixed deposit. We aren't trying to be fancy or modern. We just provide the basic services people in Bhandup need. It’s a familiar place for the locals. We close the gates once the clock hits four, then we finish up the paperwork in the quiet.
